I had a slow start to my day. I woke up to a cold windy and rainy morning. I was suppose to go for a ride with a group but decided not to. I hate cold and riding in cold and wet I hate worse! I stayed home and did some cooking and made what I call penne noodle surprise! It's made with penne noodles tomato sauce with grilled chunks of chicken breast with cheese .

After baking the weather got better and the sun started to shine so I went out for my bike ride alone. I managed to do my 2 hour ride in under 2 hours? lol

When I got back I changed and went to the store to pick up some things (beer!) When I got home I was back in the kitchen and decided to make a carrot cake. Mmmmmm. when it's done I post a picture.

Here is my Penne noodle surprise...

I'm getting excited for my friends doing Ironman Canada, and Ironman Louisville and can't wait until tomorrow to watch on line. Good luck to all!!

Finally summer hour are...

Finally summer hours are over! weeeeeee! Next week I'm back to the afternoon shift,.....sort of?

I get to start later in the day so I'm available for the Secretary and teachers if they want to stay late to do things in there class, so I'll start around 1pm and leave when the last person leaves. School really starts after labor day the next Tuesday but the teachers and office staff have to come in next week to prepare. Then after labor day I will start my regular shift at 3:30pm and then I can get back into my routine for training and shed the pounds I've gained over this summer.

Today I ran a 5k and I feel it, specially in the knees. one more reason to lose weight. But the good news it my feet are good! no heel pain, just regular soreness after my run when I stand up after sitting a while, but I have pills for that. ;)

Tomorrows plan is BIKE RIDE!! I'll be going with a group so I don't know the distance. They were throwing around the idea of 50-60km, but I'm thinking I want to go longer. We will see in the morning, That is if the rain hold up?

Beer fest at work

I get to work this morning at the ungodly hour of 6:25 and see next to the parking area 3 full cases of empty beer bottles. Apparently there was a party going on in the parking lot over night. I hate to think what I'll find in the park behind the building? Usually when I check the grounds I'll find a couple of empties and a used condom, (yes! condom! ) as people like to park in the schools parking lot for a love fest over night which is common practice here with the young people, and they don't think twice of leaving their wears on the parking lot grounds. Ewwwwwww!

Anyway I gathered all the cases and put in my car trunk so I can collect the deposit. Hey ! that works out to $7.20 I'm not proud! a penny saved is a penny earned! Plus I had to clean up the mess up, so why not collect the rewards to. :)

SO WHAT HAPPENED TO SUMMER!! It's freezing today!!

After work I went for a 30km bike, then I went down to the lake for my swim with some friends at 5:45pm. The lake Temp is a cool 20C good if you wear a wetsuit, which I don't! it was cold jumping into the water for my swim, and even colder getting out of the water!! The air temp was around 14C Brrrrrrrrr.. When I got home I had to jump into my hot tub to take the chill off. No run today, I had to warm up.

Mini Tri day

Today I finally did my first mini tri after work where I ride 30km and ride down to the beach, swim 1000m then ride home and run a 1.2k brick. last year I was doing this at least 2 times a week, but with the weather being so cold this year I only started swimming in the lake 3 weeks ago, and my work schedule being screwed up didn't help matters. So today I finally gave it a try!

It felt good!! and I might do it again tomorrow. :)

My heel is feeling good the runs are coming along, but I am having some issues with my sciatica. Maybe I need to drop a few pounds and cut back on the beers. ;)

New Dishwasher

My new diswasher is installed! it took about a half hour, but I got er done!

The old dishwasher is put out to pasture on the curb.

No Time Trial Today

Tuesday time trial is canceled this week, as some of the people are off to race either Ironman Canada or IM Kentucky this coming weekend, and others had plans, but the TT will resume next week.

I was Joe the Plumber Last night, (one of my many hats I wear! ) I disconnected the electrical and the intake water line to my broken dishwasher and pulled it out from under the kitchen counter. While disconnecting it I found the problem why the water wasn't flowing to clean the dishes? the 3/8 in flex copper water line that connects to the DW had a kink in it. But it's to late to fix it, and I took it out because we bought a new DW which will be delivered today and I'll install. The old DW was old and needed replacing anyways as the springs to the doors were broken. Tonight I will be Joe Plumber again and will be installing our new dishwasher if it arrives. If not, I could be Joe the Drywall guy and fix my ceiling in my computer room. But most likely I'll do a easy 5k run and go down to the lake for a refreshing swim instead! :)

Snakes and ladders

I had a little excitement today at work. A snake slithered into my building this morning.

I got a call from my co-worker that there was a snake in the building, and by the scream I thought it would be a huge thing! But it was only a little baby garter snake, maybe 7 inches in length. It was so cute! but feisty! snapping at me. I picked it up and put it in a container until I let it go outside in the grass after showing it around to all the teachers that were in today that shouldn't be! making them scream!! hahaha. :)

A Couple of Ironman Legends

In this picture is my good friend Willem Boon 65 on the left from the Netherlands, who has done over 30 Ironmans including Ironman Kona World Championships and the Clearwater 70.3 championships and numerous marathon races. With him in this picture is what he calls another legend in Ironman, Richard Westerbeek also from the Netherlands. He is a 2 time kona finisher and has done 50 Ironman races as well as completed and finishing 150 marathons. He is 68 years young.

I wonder what they put in the water in the Netherlands to be able to do so many races?? lol

Here is my Tuesday Time Trial results.....

Raining in my computer room. Fortunately I caught it in time before the ceiling came crashing down.

After the water stopped dripping down I tore a hole to see what the problem was.
The problem was soon fixed, as the water was seeping down the back of the tub wall tiles. The tiles were loose and cracked so I sealed it with caulking to stop water from seeping down the back wall down along the pipe under the tub and dripping on the ceiling in my computer room. All is good. Now I have to repair the ceiling.
