Pictures From Today's training Camp.

So here are the pictures as promised.

This is just as I'm leaving the northern city limits into the country side heading north, which is only around the corner from my house.
In this picture, notice how far across the road the truck passes around me, this is common around these parts, specially when a biker is carrying a camera taking shots of the road ahead as he rides. sssssss

Just up ahead is a big dip in the road, the trick is to take as much speed with you down to carry you half way up the next hill until you have to gear down and strain to get up the other side.

Up ahead is one of the many short steep hills on my route.

getting closer, time to gear down to the small ring.

look one hand climbing as I take a low shot up the hill

Even a lower shot half way up the hill still peddling with one hand.

Me looking back, I tried to get a shot back showing the steepness of the hill, but by the time I took the shot, I was shot myself and missed a bit of the angle. Man it's tough going up hill one handed....Oops! did I forget my helmet again??? probably why the dude in the truck in the other picture went so far around me? that, and the camera in hand? lol.

This shot I'm coming up to Springwater park on the horizon.

Now I'm in the park zoo. these geese where really honking up storm, something about spring? and goosing around? hee hee.
Red hawk, very cool.
The bear was sleeping in his den, and I called him out, and he came out!! cool! then he came over to me, and I was thinking what can I give him to eat? fortunately I had some Oreo cookies in my snack bag, so I gave him one. he quickly ate it too!

Timber wolf, very skiddish and stayed at the back of the cage until I started to move away, then they ( there were 2 of them) move forward to see where I was going.

Great horned Owl, what a hoot!
Sorry I didn't get more shots, as I said the battery died while I was in the park. I sill had a few longer steep hill climbs I wanted to show. Maybe next time?
Later in the day after my sun tanning session, me running, Joanne was riding the bike with me taking the shots.

Still allot of snow along the side walks in sections that aren't exposed to the sun.

That's it for today, tomorrow will be Day Two of my Camp.

Triathlon Training Camp Day 1

What a perfect day to start out my training camp. The sky was blue, the air was still and the temperature was hovering around 10C. SWEEEEEET!!

I rode 60km easy, took my daughters camera with me in case I came across some lions, tigers and bears! Oh My!....

Well I didn't see any lions or tigers but I did see a bear. I pulled into a SpringWater Provincial park that is along my bike route. The park has a little mini zoo with local wildlife like wolves, deer, bear, water foul, and birds like hawks, Owls, eagles, not to mention penguins!! ...kidding on the penguins. lol... pictures to follow when I have time to upload them.

Oh ya, the ride! I was having some trouble with my front wheel hub tightening up on me as I was riding, so I had to take my wheel off and adjust the hub screws so the wheel would turn freely. Other then that the ride went well. I managed to make it up the big hills ok for an old fat guy.....Again pictures to follow when I upload them.

When I got back from my ride I checked the temperature in my backyard and it read 24C, but then again, that is with the sun beading down on the back side of my house and down on the patio. There is still allot of snow in my yard but it is melting rapidly. With that, I took my shirt off to enjoy the sun and did some sun tanning and food to re-fuel

After I had something to eat and had enough rest and sunning, I went out for a 5km run, slow and easy, to finish off my first day of Training camp.

All in all it was a good day.

Today's totals... Swim 000 ..Bike 60km....run 5km.

April Fools Totals For March

Happy April Fools day! You thought I would have some great totals??

Going back to work really messed up my training this month. It's taking me a little longer to get back into the grove of working, commuting, and training. I'm still waffling around with not finding enough time in the day to train, or having any motivation to train.

The weather is finally warming up and the snow is starting to melt down, Yay! we're down to 2 feet of snow now. Oy! ..... but maybe as the snow melts down, my motivation to train will go up?

Weight watchers? nothing to watch here? still at 240lb? maybe I have a thyroid thingy problem? hehehe.

Two things I've learned when it comes to losing weight? 1) The older you get, the harder it is to lose weight. 2) With lack of motivation you tend to eat more and exercise less. 3) I know I said 2 things? but there is always more then two things in life to learn.

I think I'll have a chance to redeem myself this month.. after this week is over, I'm on 3 weeks vacation. I intend to make the most of the 3 weeks for some solid training. If the weather cooperates, I'll be able to get outside to do some riding and run every day.

I will have to think about how I will go about my training for the 3 weeks? If I get the weather I need? I may get my motivation back? if I get my motivation back? I may train hard?

In a nut shell I'm going to put out some sort of effort every day for the 3 weeks. Or I'll just Waffle? who knows? I'll take each day as it comes.
