The cat

It's a sad day. We had to put our cat down today. She was to sick to let her suffer any longer. We went to the animal clinic to put her down and brought her home to bury. But for the time being, I have to keep her in the freezer until the ground thaws so I can bury her beside her sister who died a few years ago.

Rest in peace Cinnamon.

Call me Coach

Well It may be a little premature calling me coach, but today's meeting went well. I had an on deck meeting with Sharon and she agreed to have the board fixed so the fulcrum can move back for better springing and gave me permission to open the 3 meter board during certain times at public swims. Woo!

I'm a happy diving coach. : - )

In other news..... I entered Ottawa marathon on line, as well as three tri's, Muskoka chase, Peterborough 1/2, and the Barrie tri.

Now it's time to start training!! ; - )

Barrie Dive Club

The Barrie Diving club I've been trying to get started is getting started. I just had a meeting with the Aquatics director at my swimming pool where her office is ( East Bayfield Rec center) about my intentions on developing a diving club for Barrie at the Holly rec center) and she is eager as I to get it up and running.

We are looking for a Sept start to have a year round diving club run at the Holly pool, ( times and day to be verified ) that I will coach. It will be city run with me being employed to coach, thus letting the admin of the club and insurance being handled by the city, which is better for me.

The idea of the club is to get up and coming divers from the city's learn to dive program into a higher level of learning and to compete in competitions around the Province in tier level competition and beyond. Woooo!

I also discussed with her about opening up the 3 meter board at recreation pool times, so as to have it available for all patrons who have the courage to try it, but with conditions applied to it! like anyone wanting to go off the 3 meter board can do so with feet first entry's only! unless proven they can do otherwise off the 1 meter board first, and to let me practice on it! as I have a competition coming up in 2 1/2 weeks and I am entered on the 3 meter board. I Also asked her to unlock the bolts on the 1 meter board so the board can be adjusted for better springing, they have it bolted now so as you can't adjust the fulcrum wheel for higher springing. I will be meeting with her tomorrow at the pool to show her and hopefully she will agree to undo it for the better of diving and my knees.

Now to develop a logo for the club!

Race schedule and cost

I was just looking over my planed race competition schedule, figuring out how much everything will cost.
Man this is an expensive sport!

March 28,Diving competition...$50
May 24,Ottawa marathon........$85
May 31,Milton sprint tri......$60
June 14,Muskoka long course...$90
July 5,Peterborough 1/2.......$125
July 26, IMlake Placid trip...$150?
Aug 9,Barrie tri..............$50
Aug 30,Orillia sprint tri.....$60
Sept 12,Wasaga beach tri......$67
Sept 13,Muskoka 70.3..........$225
Total.........................$962.00

Then tally in registering for either IMFL2010 or IMAZ 2010 in Nov, which is another $550 unless they raise the price?

The total for this years races will be $1512.00 not including travel hotel and food. Gak!

I think I may have to thin out a few races? or make more money! :-(

When I make my final decision on which races I'll do this summer I'll post it up on the side of my blog.

Purple people eater repairs

Purple people eater which is what we call my sons car his Purple Neon, the same car that Victoria had the accident in last month? Well we had to take it in for repairs. This wasn't unexpected, it needed it's front end fixed with new tie rods and a new muffler so I can take it in for it's drive safe check up and get my new licence plate sticker for this year.

I think my mechanic is feeling sorry for me as the repair cost wasn't all that bad. It only cost me $300.00 and now the PPE ( short for Purple people eater) is road worthy and safe again for my daughters to drive while my son is living in Montreal.

This is Chris with his PPE before moving to Montreal.

March, Lamb or Lion?

Happy March! It looks like March is coming in like a lamb this year with bright sunny sky's and not a cloud to be seen, but the temperature outside is freezing. Hopefully the warm weather is not far off so I can start biking outside.

This weeks training has been light, I've been fighting a cold this week and for the past 2 days my right eye has been infected red and watering. I've been using eye drops in it but it's not helping much. I guess it just hast to run it's course with this head cold.

Totals for this week.

Swim...5000m

Bike ..0000

Run...6mi

Diving..2hr
