Basement Bedroom coming along

Things are moving along with the building of the basement bedroom. Today I'll be finishing up putting up the drywall walls, and hopefully start some of the compounding and taping.

Sunday will be a rest day for me doing the Peterborough half. lol.....I haven't swam in 3 weeks now, no running because my heel is hurting still and I haven't biked since last week. I should have good results!?! Not that I've had good results before at any of my races? :eyeroll: I'll just enjoy the day and have fun as usual. :) I'll post my race report when I get back, but I'll give you a sneek peek of what will be in my Race report now.....DNF. lol

Here are some pictures of my basement bedrooms progression ....

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day!

I wimped out on the Bike TT, the roads were wet and the skies looked threatening, so my friends will have another week holding there TT records, besides I got caught up in working on my basement and before I knew it it was already 7:30pm so I missed going. Not to worry! I'll be there next time with bells on! hee hee hee. ;)

Today I'm ready to put up the drywall on the ceiling and walls, I hard wired the circuit and did a double check on all the electrical and found a fault, so I had to re-assess the circuit and found the trouble in the wiring in the light switch. ( who the heck wired this thing!!! :0 ) Anyway it's all fixed. Yeah! : )

Once I get the ceiling up I have to do a little frame work on the closet entrance, (just finish the header on top so I can hang my bi-fold doors,) I didn't put the header up to make it easier to drywall the ceiling in the closet, and it will only take 5 minutes to frame it up as it's already marked and measured. Then finish the rest of the drywall on the walls and I'll be ready to tape and compound the corners and seams and screw holes and then sand, then plaster more compound on and sand again, then prime and paint! Woooo! Almost there!! Woooooo Hoooooo!

OK I better get to work. :)

See that's what I mean.

See That's what I mean! I'm beat today.

Whew! that was a good workout that's for sure, I need a break. I lifted and moved 6 rooms of furniture today and now I'm to tired to work out when I get home, which will be in a couple of hours. But I guess after resting and hydrating now, plus the hour or so drive home, I will be recovered enough to get out on my bike if it's not raining?

Actually tonight my Tri club is having there Tuesday Time trial at 6pm, so this will be the first time I'm able to go since I started my summer hours on the day shift, Whooot! ...

I hope the rain holds off. I want to show them what time trialing is all about!!! ; ) ...and maybe take the honours of having the fastest TT time since they've been bragging on doing the 20k flat course at a mere 37.4kph average......Pfffft, Pleeeese, childs play! ;) ....But on the other hand if I don't break the TT course record I will have an excuse, that I worked to hard today. lol ;)

All kidding aside, I'll just be going to have some fun and see how I stand with the rest of the fast peeps............... and watch them eat my dust!!!

I hate working days because I can't train.

Here I am sitting in my office. I'm on summer hours now until school starts back up in Sept. I hate summer hours or should I say normal day work weeks. I hate getting up at 6am to get to work by 8am and I hate getting home by 5pm, it screws up my whole day because i can't train at night after work because I'm to tired to train.

I like training in the mornings before going to work, my normal work week mornings, when i get up at 9am, go train a few hours, have some breakfast and watch a little tv. Then go to work for 3pm and get home by 12:30am.

I am NOT an early riser. I am to used to afternoon shift work which I have been doing for the last 6 years. Even on the weekends I keep my same hours as my work week, the kids don't even notice because they sleep in to noon or 1pm anyway. But come Summer! I have to switch my schedule!!

So what do I do to keep up my training since I'm to tired to train after work?

I improvise!!.....I improvise on my training while I'm at work on days during the summer break. Since there is heavy lifting involved moving furniture around and scrubbing and so forth, I work as if I'm training. When I'm lifting, I lift like I'm doing weights. While I'm working I'm on my feet all day, I count that as my LSD run training, (I put in at least 10 miles on my feet a day. ) I even throw in a few squats during the day. When I go up the stairs I run up. You get the idea.

I also take a min to do my sit ups once a day during my break....... Come to think of it! that's probably why I'm to tired after work to train at night?? But I do force myself after work to at least get on my bike and ride down to the lake and swim a lap of the Barrie tri swim course at the beach at least a few times a week and twice on Sunday all Summer long. : )

Hasn't been a good Month

My wife's sister Judy died on the 16Th. It wasn't sudden and was expected as she was battling cancer and lost. We celebrated her life with a quiet family gathering over the weekend after having Judy Cremated. It's always sad to to lose a loved one. Rest in peace Judy.

This is a picture of Joanne and her older bother John who died of lung cancer 5 years ago and two sisters from the left Sandra who died last year in April from a degenerative brain disease and next to her Judy.

On the Training Front! ...

My last race was in Muskoka up in Huntsville on Th 14Th. I swam OK, I bike well enough, I just couldn't run because of my heel still hurting even with the extra attention Ive been giving it with rest ice and stretching. I did try to run and went as far as 1km before turning back calling it a day. I could have walked to finish, but what's the use? It's not worth the pain or effort to finish the race if I can't run it, so I DNF'd.

Here I am in transition

My wave at the start, I'm the one on the left side just in front of the tip of the buoy

My next race will be the Peterborough half Ironman this coming Sunday July 5Th. I'm not sure I will go since I haven't been in the pool for over 2 weeks and haven't been able to run. I have done some biking to keep up my fitness.

If I go? which I probably will. I'll go on my own driving up early in the morning. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive to Peterborough from my house.

It's not worth bringing the family to see me DNF again, as I know I won't be able to finish the run with my foot hurting and I'm not going to walk 21km in pain to show my kids how tough I am to get a stupid medal. lol

I'll just make it a good training day with a solid swim and bike outing and pick up my swag which is paid for already, minus the finisher medal. : )
