OK enough of the funnys for now.

Time for some serious training stuff....

I had to do some major surgery on my running shoes today...... one of the plastic rubber thingy on the bottom of my shoe was coming off, so I got some contact cement and re-glued it back on, I used the second best thing next to duct tape to hold it in place, that is of course? a vice grip.

What pisses me off is these shoes are only a year and 2 months old and they are falling apart already! ....it's not like I have over used them since I haven't really been running over the last year and a bit because of my foot problem. Damn! I am not happy with these shoes, very poor workman ship. I would buy another pair, but money is short and I'll have to use these shoes as long as they hold together for Disney and IMLP. But the next pair I buy won't be these 1024's I really like the 833's but they discontinued them up here.

I'm seriously considering sending these photos to Newbalance with a letter to tell them what crap shoes these are!!

As for training today,I swam 2000m doing sets of 500m. I guess I should record it in my spreadsheet befor I forget.

Sport related, intense training

I know it's hockey,.... but I use the same techniques for my Ironman training, Cat included. lol

Tricks are for Ki..Parents

Just trying new things, have a laugh.

Finally??

finally!! hopefully ?? there will be no more interruptions in my training from here until Disney!!

Melissa is back at school with her freezer full of food.

It was a mild day today and the weather is calling for more warm temps in the double digits for the next 2 day with lots of rain, so all the snow is starting to melt...Yay!! ...But we will be back into the freeze after that. ....Booo!

Like i said no training for me today, I'm not in the mood. Tomorrow I will start the new week with a solid swim, and go form there to get the ball rolling. My wife went down for a bike this evening for a 30 min sprint on the bike, good for her. : )

A few of my friends had a good race today in So-Cal, Congrats to James, John, and Renee, you all did great!! John with a 1:40:52.....James with a 1:59:01 both doing the half Mary. and Renee doing the full Mary came in at a great time of 4:47:32...... Great job!!!

Well time to hit the hay, big day planned tomorrow. : )

Scheduled Rest Day

As per schedule, it's my rest day. I thought of going in to the rec center and do a run and swim.....Nawwwww!

Tomorrow I won't be able to do any training because I'll be driving Melissa back up to school. My wife and Melissa were out all day shopping and getting stuff for her while I was cooking all day. I cooked up about 10 lbs of chicken breasts with different flavors like, Greek fete' seasoning and Mandarin orange seasoning and just plain old my regular seasoning, then I package each piece in baggies and freeze them for individual single servings that she can pull out of her freezer at school.

Starting Monday I will be able to get back into my groove, and start training regularly without interruption's of this past Christmas...

It's been almost 3 weeks of broken training eating and drinking!!...

Man am I glad the holiday's are over!!.

Where the hell are my feet!!! lol...

Back into the Swim

Yes!!...I'm back into the swim!..My rec pass was renewed thanks to a surprise deposit into my back account!! Woooo!

My legs are shaved and I'm good to go to the rec centre for another 3 months.

On top of that! the new rec center had it's grand opening today and will be running this weekend!! which will be great so I can finally check out the new diving boards!!...but the only problem is that I heard from the life guard at the pool today, is that they screwed up on the mounting of the board foundation brackets, so it will be a few more weeks until they get that fixed....DAMN!

Today I swam with a couple of interesting guys, Mark one of the top age groupers in 50-55 and the other being a pro R.J. Ross...I was talking with R.J. in between "sets "( Ha! ya me doing "sets" with R.J.? ... he was doing his in 1:10 and I was doing mine in 1:40 again ha! ) I asked him what races he will be doing? and if he will be doing Muskoka? he said he will be going to the worlds in Vancouver in June, so he won't be able to do Muskoka, but he will be racing as an age grouper. I asked why as a age grouper? he said, "I'm tired of everyone being pulled on the bike by me in the ITU circuit with allowing drafting "

I've known R.J. for a while, he always take the time to help me or anyone else out at the pool, which in my opinion make him a great guy. I asked him to critique my stroke, so he watched me and gave me a few pointers on how to get more power in my stroke, which i was looking for. But basically he said I have a solid stroke and i will get a lot faster if I dropped 50 or so pounds. I told him, I'm working on it. lol

After trying to keep up with R.J. for about 45 min, and doing what he suggested with my stroke, I have to say my arms where never so tired after swimming as they are now. I did a total of 15 x100s on 1:40s and another 200 kicks and 300 warm down. for a total of 2000m

It felt good. and now I have my motivation back knowing I can get to the rec centre to work out.

Swim is stalled

It's time to renew my Rec pass for the next 3 months but I haven't the cash to renew, So no more swimming until I can scrape up the money. The problem is, being on LTD, I only get paid once a month, and my pay being 70% of my normal pay, it barely covers my mortgage that my paycheck pays for normally by-weekly, I can't even use my visa because it's maxed out. So as it stands now there will be no or very little swimming for the next while.

For now I can still do my biking and running on my treadmill in my basement, but I feel the key to doing well at any triathlon? is having a good strong swim. So i have to get in the pool if I'm going to be in any decent shape to do well at Disney 70.3 in May and IMLP in July...

But there is still a lot of time to get into the pool before then. In the mean time, I could just swim once a week at a pay per visit, which is $5 ?

Actually I think it's a good plan to do more running now and start jacking up the trainer rides, because my running is what I really need work on, even though my plan was to increase the run and bike workouts as I maintained my swim at 3 to 4 times a week for this month? I think I'll be better off just to work harder on my runs, doing longer base, maybe even run every day? and if I can? I will just do the one swim per week?.....now if I can only find the $5 to get in the pool???

Let the dieting begin!

I started my diet today, so far today I had my soup for lunch, for dinner? ( I have one of those MEGO sized containers of protein powder that I bought last month and I'll make a shake with frozen fruit from my freezer, but no salad, since I have nothing to make salad with? (I need to do some shopping, but I don't get paid until the 10th.Doh!)..... that's ok though, who knows? maybe not eating because you have no food diet will work to? ...I can feel the pounds come off now!...lol......Not to worry I have a freezer full of soups. : )
