Nice day for a Wedding

Busy weekend with my niece's wedding. The wedding was very nice held outside up north outside of Orillia at a privet cottage by a lake which holds weddings for a business. The rain held off until after the ceremony then started to drizzle while taking pictures after. Thank god the reception was indoors as it started to down pour after that the rest of the night.

Here are some pic's

Most of Sunday I stayed home watching Ironman Lake Placid on line as it was raining and t-storming most of the day, so i couldn't get out to bike or run. I've got two weeks until the Barrie Tri and I need to get out to run but the weather is not co-operating this summer with cool temps and lots of rain.

Ride and Wed.

I'm drinking my coffee and just getting ready for my Saturday ride. The weather isn't co-operating this week. Yesterday and the day before we've had rain and I couldn't ride and I didn't feel like running in the rain either, so I didn't.lol..... Last night we had a huge downpour. It's still threatening out side and raining a little. Hopefully it's just a passing system and will stop in time for me to meet up with the group I'm meeting this morning. The e-mail I got from the ride coordinator said in my e-mail that unless it's pouring rain the ride will go on! so lets hope this rain stops.

Later today my family is going to a wedding. My Sisters daughter is getting married today. Kayla will be the first sibling from my family between my bothers 2 kids and my three kids and my sister 2 kids to get married. It should be a fun night. Hopefully I get some nice pictures to post.

I was doing some finishing touches on my basement bedroom over the last couple of day's, including the baseboards, closet doors, putting on electrical cover plates and some touch ups. I have to say the room is looking pretty good. I'll have pictures soon I promise, I'm just waiting until everything is done to post the last of the pictures.

Tomorrow is Ironman Lake Placid! Wooo! I can't wait to watch on line! I'm just sorry I couldn't be there this year...Stoopid wedding! ;)

Time to ride!! ...still looking dark out there. eek!

TTT ( Tuesday Time Trials )

Here is the Time trial results. Look at that!!! I averaged 35.4kph!!! Sweet!! But they spelled my last name wrong!!!

The funny thing is the guy I was sprinting at the end with isn't Joe Walsh? his name is John Walsh, but the bike shirt he was wearing had the name Joe on it for the event he did last weekend for charity. lol.

Tuesday Time Trials

Yesterday was Tuesday time trial day. After last week when I did the Time Trial for the first time and had so much fun, I convinced Joanne to come this week to try it out. I loaded up our bikes and drove to the Time Trial course which is 15km from our house. I wanted to ride out there but Joanne said she couldn't manage the ride out there and back plus do the TT, so we drove.

We met up with everyone at the start on Golf course road. after I unloaded our bikes we went for a little warm up ride before the TT started. Joanne decided she will only do the out and back for 10km instead of the 20km double out and back because it would take her to long to finish.

We got our starting order and off we went one after another starting 30 seconds apart.

I was a nice day and not to windy, the wind was blowing in are face on the out which is flat with a slight down hill grade, with the winds on out backs coming back.

Well everything felt good today, and off I went. A nice steady pace, not pushing to hard, but hard enough to get me breathing hard. I tried to maintain at least a 38kph or better pace going on the out with the slight decline but the wind was resisting, so i pushed my pace a bit harder and geared down one less gear. Aaaaaa feeling good.

I hit the turn around and start the slight incline for the way back. Still spinning in my lower gear I push it up a notch and gear up as my cadence was a little high for me being the masher I am.

Now I'm back to the start finish line for my next loop and away I go. At this time I had caught up to the rider who started a min before me, and for most of the second loop I stayed behind him until I decided to punch it and pass him just before the last turn around for the way back.

Shortly after i passed him i eased up and he now passed me and keeps going. I then push a littler harder and just keep up behind him and thinking to myself? OK I'll keep pace until around 400 m to the finish line, then I'll sprint it out to beat him at the finish.

So I waited and kept up with him. At around the 400m mark to the finish line I pull up into his slipstream and pull past him while kicking it into my highest gear and sprint standing up pulling away from him to beat him to the finish. He sees me pass and he kicks it up to, to try to catch me. I'm now pulling away at 42kph going on the uphill but I start to tire, but keep it going at the 42kph rate. I'm still pushing, but my legs are tiring as I'm in my areo seated position.

Now my speed is slowing down to 40...39...38.....The finish is less then 50m away and I feel the other guy catching me, now passing me. I stand and try to give it one more kick and start catching up to him but ran out of road as he beat me, finishing less then 1 second ahead of me.

Dang! I miss timed my sprint to the finish!......But!! Man that was fun we both said to each other as we turn around to go back to the finish line to see our time. He was clocked at 34.25 and I had a 33:56 Woooo!

I won't know what my official time and average is until it's posted on the KTC website blog.

As for Joanne? She did her 10 km ride and said she enjoyed doing it and riding with the group, giving her all clocking herself at 23kph average. which is a good start for her as she has never done this before.

It's been a year!?!?

Happy week before Ironman Lake Placid!

It's hard to believe it's been a year since I did IMLP /08 and this Sunday it's time for IMLP /09. Woooo!

Last year was fun, even in the rain. But I hope for the sake of the participants they get better weather this year. I wanted to go down to LP this year to volley and possibly sign up for next year, but my niece is getting married this Saturday of all weekends!!! so I can't go. Anyhow I'll watch it on line and cheer on some people I know doing the race this year. :)

And my basement bedroom is almost finished. I hung the door and my son and girlfriend put the first coat of paint on. After the second coat I'll throw up the baseboards and hang the closet doors and it's done. Yeah! I'll post more pictures later.

Happy training.

The result of the Time Trial were posted on the Tri blog here....

According to the result I averaged 32.9kph and not 34.6kph that I had said, ( I can't believe my computer is that far off.) and finished with a time of 36.31 min. Still not a bad result. :)

No training for me last night, I got working on the bedroom and finished priming the walls and ceiling. All that's left is for Chris and MJ to get there paint and then paint the room before moving it.

More reno's going on

While I'm working on the basement bedroom, my daughter Melissa decided to repaint her room, so she went out and bought the paint and started working on her room, with the help of Joanne. Victoria is just watching.

This is where Melissa is sleeping while she works on her room.
Melissa's room, outside her room.

Drywall sanding all done

I finally finished my sanding. The room is ready for it's first coat of primer! Yay! Once I apply the primer Chris and MJ can go to town and paint there room, as they wanted to pick the colours and buy the paint.

Tomorrow I'll pick up the entry door and install it and put some drywall up on the outside walls of the room to finish the exterior on the staircase side.

Here I am covered in drywall dust. Blah!..on the side you can see the bi-fold closet doors I'll be putting up once the room is all painted.
This job is making me old and gray. lol

After I finished sanding I showered and went out to meet my tri group for the Tuesday Time Trials. Yes I made it out this week. The route is a back country road fairly flat. It's approximately a little over 5km stretch of road that we ride end to end. We do an out and back twice from Horseshoe Valley Rd to Henderie Rd. for a measured 21.km stretch. I managed to average 34.6kph according to my bike computer. we will see when the official results get posted on the tri blog. :)

Where has the Summer heat gone?

I didn't go for my swim at the lake yesterday, for that matter I didn't even bike or run, it was to cold and windy. Where is summer?? My knee's have been aching from all this stupid cold weather, it seems more like Oct, then July! I need hot! The hotter the better!! Maybe I'll try again today to bike and run when I get home from work. The daytime high is suppose to be 24C today, still not hot enough for me to jump into the freezing lake for my swim though, hopefully by the end of this week we will be getting some heat so I can brave the cold waters of Kempenfelt bay.

Hey I just thought! today is TT Tuesday. Maybe I'll join the Tri club tonight for my bike ride. WOO HOO! ...IT"S TT TUESDAY!!!

IT BETTER NOT BE COLD!!

Not much happened over the weekend. Besides watching the Tour DE France, I did a little plastering in the basement, well actually I had to re plaster the whole room as my son thought he would help out and sanded all the tape work. Little did he know he only had to lightly sand all the taping, but decided to sand everything down smooth. When I say smooth I mean smooth, right down to the fiberglass tape! so all the tape work was showing!!!.......Not good. SO I spent all Saturday re plastering all the corners, edges, and tape work, and I'll be sanding it this time.

Sunday I checked out the plaster job and did some touch up work in the corners that were showing cracks. I went for a 30km TT bike ride, had a tough time with strong winds but managed to average 31kph.

This week I'm working the early shift which means I'll be home before 4pm. So my plan is when I get home I'll do my 30km ride, and ride down to the beach and swim the Barrie swim course down at the beach and ride back home. I hope the weather warms up as the lake I hear is a freezing 64F Brrrrrrrr..........This week I'm also going to try some running, my heel is starting to feel better after the acupuncture i had done to my calf, so I'll try a short run after I get back from my swim.

Training totals....

Swim...0
Bike...30km
Run...0
