Gak!! glad V-day is over with... now I can get back to training. lol
Actually yesterday was very nice, we went out for a nice dinner and because I didn't have reservations the manager gave Joanne and I free wine and appetizers with our dinner......What?....Huh??
Well? I bought a gift card for Joanne for X-mas and was told by the restaurant employee that I didn't need reservations for dinner if and when we came in, ( I asked when I bought the gift card ) so when we got there I was asked if I had a reservation? I said WTF? ....I was told I didn't need a reservation when I bought the gift card!?!?
Well to make a long story short the manager apologized and found us a table and gave us the complimantry Wine and appetizers with our dinner. We wined and dined and had a good time, the food was great! I had the Chicken Oscar something with srimp and scallops in a cream sauce,( I think that's the oscar part?) with garlic mashed potatoe, Joanne had some Lemon pepper Haddock on spring leaf lettuse with garlic potatoes. The service was great, well worth going to, and surly we will be going back.
Ok now for training!
Update on my right calf tear and my left foot recovery..... both of my feet are having a battle, so I'm still walking around gingerly and like a penguin waddling. My right calf is still very tight and still a little swollen as well as my inside ankle. My left foot still hurts as I walk and stand for to long, still at about 80%
I did go to the gym yesterday, I did some weights and the elliptical again, I rode it for 2 miles keeping my HR at 160bpm with no stopping, and I felt good. I also tried the treamill and walked 1 mile at 3 mph, but holding the rail for support working my calf to get some strenght back in it, and I did stretch before and after.
This morning
I was rudely awaken early this morning by my wife. She got her car stuck at the end of our driveway,(yes it snowed again over night!) where the snow plow had plowed the road across our driveway, which was about 2 feet by 4 feet wide snow mound.
My wife thought she could drive over it, but she didn't make it. So she woke me up to get her un stuck. I shoveled out around the car and tires and tried to get it out, but the cars body was sitting on the mound. So I then shoveled out the mound in front of my car which is on the other side of the driveway where I park it and the plow plowed in. I then pulled my car out on to the street and backed into my wifes car to push her up the driveway to free her. I parked my car back in the driveway and shoveled the mound my wife car was stuck on out of the way so she could drive out and get to work.
I hate snow and snow plow's!!!...but mostly snow!!!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY...WHY THE FUSS?
What's all the fuss about Valentine's Day? One day a year on Feb 14th you buy your lover or mate chocolates and flowers to show them you love them? I don't need to do that! I hate buying stuff like that just to show your lover or mate you apreciate them and love them, it's a waste of money. I do things all year long to show my wife I love her without spending money on usless things like "flowers" and "chocolates"!
I do all sorts of things for my wife all the time to show her how I appreciate her, so why on Valentines do I have to make a fuss?? Just last night I watched some TV with her, giving her a little bit of my time away from the computer? and I help her train and go biking with her all summer long after my rides to keep her company. She appreciates that! ...
"Time" ...Time is all she wants! not chocolates which make her fat! why give a burning flame more fuel to make it bigger if all you want is a nice little flame? so no "chocolates"! Or "flowers", all "flowers" do is die after a few day's and they smell up the house and make me suffed up! (alergies)
Ok..Ok...So I'm a romatic! so I did buy her "flowers" for today, what the heck! it gives her something to tell her co-workers at work how sweet I am. Ok, I also caved in and got her a little box of "chocolates", but a little one, so she doesn't pig out and get fat, and a funny card, plus we are going out for dinner to a nice restaurant tonight.
I'm only doing it so she doesn't feel left out of what society forces you to do!...." to buy something for your lover" for Valentine's Day!!
My Wife knows I love her, because every day with me is "Valentines Day" .... not to mention a Party! ...plus I'm still around aren't I??

I'm a computer genius!!
I took my computer apart, pulled out this that and the other thing, went to the computer store and asked if they had this part. cost me 11$, went home put the part in, hooked up the wires and voula!! computers fixed!!.... it's quiet as a whisper and running smoooooth!!
God I'm good!!...
Ok I'm feeling better then yesterday, <>..... I got some of my troubles resolved today after my swim, so I'm still on for Disney 70.3 and IMLP, and we don't have to sell the house yet! ;-) so I'm back to being positive, Ok? :-)
When will winter end!!! Grrrrrr....We got more snow over night, about 6inchs.
I had to shovel first thing this morning, I couldn't even drive my car out of my drive because the plow plowed my car in with snow up to the top of the hood of car!! I hate snow!! and I hate snow plows!!!....
After shoveling I went to the pool and swam 1500m, my arms were to tired to swim any more.
God I'm good!!...

Slight setback plus swim
I can't stay positive anymore!! Without getting into details, I just can't do this anymore.
Poor me........
Snap out of it dummy!!! it's not all that bad?
Say's you?.....
Well I better post this before my computer crashes again. It's dieing and keep shuting down, then it takes about a 1/2 hour to get up and running again! if I could afford to fix it, I would, but in the mean time I'll post when I can.
Swam 3000m yesterday and 1500m today. My leg is coming along slowly but that's expected, doing physio and triing to work it a little.
Have a good day.

Weekend workout
Yesterday I did some weight work and tried the Eliptical thingy and managed to do 2miles without much trouble to my calf, although it did feel ackward. I'm a little stiff from not using my legs in almost 2 weeks, but now knowing I can do some run training on the eliptical eases my mind. I'll try it again tomorrow after my swim. Today I put in another 2000m swim.

Still recovering and swimming
The swelling to my calf and ankle is going down daily, with pretty shades of black and blue still very visable. Over all it is feeling better except for my whole lower leg being all tight from the swelling still.
I have been doing some stretching and light movement to my calf. It still hurts very much when the muscle contracts as I try to work it, so I'm not pushing it to much yet with putting my weight on it, I mostly just do contractions as I move my foot/ankle forward and upwards and around using a rubber band thingy for some/ very little resistance.
I swam 2000m with no kicking or just enough to keep balanced. I did try the odd light kicking while I swam to test out my leg, but nothing to hard, the kick was more like a limp noodle wafting under the water. lol

No more SNOW!!!!
Huge snowstorm hit yesterday evening and over night. I shoveled about 6 inches late last night last before going to bed, and woke up to this.
And this....

I measured 2 feet of fresh snow on my patio

The snow was so deep that it was over Ambers head, she had to plow under the snow to get to her potty box this morning before I shoveled it out, ..did you notice her dog house in this picture? where is the opening?
Ahh! that's better, now she can get into her house. : )

I did enough shoveling for a good cardio and weight workout today, that I'm going to pass on going to the pool for my swim and my planned weight workout......
Ooooooo my back!!!!

Swim today
I swam today putting in a lazy 2000m, felt real sluggish today, maybe a result from all the Superbowl festivities. ; - )
The swelling around my leg and ankle is going down a bit, I'm able to move my foot around a bit but I can't put any pressure on my calf, so I won't, also the bottom of my ankle on the inside of my foot is all black and blue, a result of blood pooling down in my ankle and foot, I guess I should elevate my leg higher when I'm sitting.

Polor bear dip
I thought I would be a cool cat and get out of the pool and into the cold frozen tundra of the near north here in Barrie as I take the annual Barrie "POLOR BEAR DIP"
Here I am getting ready and listening to instruction from the organizer of the dip, who infact is the Barrie parks and rec pool director Brad.

This is a view of the area where we take the plunge, There was no wind and the temp was around +0C or +32F. The crowd of on lookers and participant gets bigger every year, this being the 8th year. They had Fire rescue divers in the water to help the people who take the plunge, as well as EMT's all who volunteer, as well as the lifeguard teams who all do a great job and keep everyone safe.
This is me as I went in the icey water, I was the second person to take the plunge. As I limped down to the ice hole, I had help from Brad in the picture with the fur coat on, when I was near the hole I rolled on the flooded ice area in front of the hole first, then I sat on the edge and slipped in so as not to hurt my injured calf.
I then stood up in celibration with my arms up to the cheers of the crowd... every one loved how I rolled around on top of the ice before I went I slipped into the icey water, even later as I was leaving with my wife I had a few people comment to me how they liked my entry.
Do you like my swim mask?......Below is after getting out of the water limping across the ice to get my slippers on, then to go up to the shelter/washroom and change. It was a perfect plunge!! and to my surprise it wasn't cold as there was no wind and and as I said before the outside temp was warm.
